The following table gives the full-time equivalent primary care physicians (FTEs) that are present and those that are needed for each primary care service area (PCSA). The last column gives the difference between the FTEs present and the FTEs needed for each PCSA, so that a negative difference indicates a deficiency of PCPs while a positive difference indicates a surplus. The model is based on the average number of visits per year required by a patient in each of 13 different age groups, and the average number of visits per year for an FTE. The later number is based on the average number of visits per day for for an FTE, average work days per week, and average work weeks per year. The default values are 20 visits per day for five work days per week, and for 48 work weeks per year, but you can adjust these values with the scroll bars and the table will update automatically.
