Counties that are not part of a CBSA are aggregated together as Rural. Click on rows in the table to see the corresponding counties highlighted in the map above.

Of Alabama's 67 counties, 26 (39%) have no pysician assistants; all are rural. The five most populous urban counties (Jefferson, Mobile, Madison, Houston, and Montgomery) have 342 of the 505 physician assistants (about 68%).
