The interactive map and table below give data on 59 communities in Alabama that have at least one hospital with obstetric services or a physician who practices obstetrics and gynecology. The following terms are used in the map and table:

• Type: An incorporated community is classified by the US Census Bureau as a city, town, place.
• Rural/MSA: A community may also be rural or belong to a metropolital statistical area (MSA)
• Hospitals: the number of hospitals providing obstetric services in the community
• Physicians: the number of ob-gyn physicians in the community
• PCSA: Primary Care Service Area, as defined in the Introduction

A blue dot is a community with a hospital and a red dot is a community with physicians, but no hospital. Click on a community for summary information.
