Introduction

Census Point Landmarks are specific locations identified by the US Census Bureau for data collection and mapping purposes, primarily for helping enumerators during field operations. Examples of these landmarks include points like schools, churches, and other religious institutions.

Purpose

• Aid field operations: Landmarks help census takers locate specific points and navigate to them during their work.
• Provide geographic context: They are used to map and represent geographical data in a more detailed way.
• Are not exhaustive: The Census Bureau adds landmarks on an as-needed basis and does not ensure that every instance of a feature is included.
