Introduction

Census Point Landmarks are specific locations identified by the US Census Bureau for data collection and mapping purposes, primarily for helping enumerators during field operations. Examples of these landmarks include points like schools, churches, and other religious institutions. Point landmarks help census takers locate specific points and navigate to them during their work. They also provide geographic context and are used to map and represent geographical data in a more detailed way. But point landmarks not exhaustive: the Census Bureau adds landmarks on an as-needed basis and does not ensure that every instance of a feature is included.
