Communities

The interactive map and table below display data for EMS provders that serve Alabama, aggregated by community. Communities are typed by the US Census Bureau as city, town, place, or unincorporated. Population is usually not available for an unincorporated community. Communities are also classified as rural or belonging to an urbanized area. For an introduction, user interface information, and limitations, see the home page. As noted on that page, no data are available on the the individual stations that an EMS provider may have.

The table below lists the urbanized areas in Alabama, and eight urbanized areas in other states where Alabama EMS providers are located. The number of EMS communities and EMS providers are given for each urbanized area. EMS communities that are not located in an urbanized area are classified as rural.
