Counties

The interactive graph and table below display data for EMS providers that serve Alabama, aggregated by county. For the purposes of EMS, the Alabama Department of Public Health groups the counties into eight regions. In addition, counties are classified as rural or urban based in criteria from the Alabama Rural Health Association. For an introduction and user interface information, see the home page. As noted on that page, no data are available on the the individual stations that an EMS provider may have.

The EMS regions are defined in terms of counties, as follows:

  1. North: Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, Morgan
  2. East: Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Etowah, Randolph, Talladega, Tallapoosa
  3. BREMSS: Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, Saint Clair, Shelby, Walker, Winston
  4. West: Bibb, Choctaw, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Wilcox
  5. North Southeast: Autauga, Bullock, Butler, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Russell
  6. Southeast Divide: Pike
  7. South Southeast: Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry, Houston
  8. Gulf: Baldwin, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe, Washington
