Guido Fubini was born on 19 January 1879 in Venice. He was educated at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, earning a doctoral degree in 1900. During his career, Fubini held academic positions at universities in Catania, Genoa, and Turin. In 1939, at the outbreak of World War II, Fubini immigrated to the United States, accepting a position at Princeton University. Fubini died on 6 June 1943 in New York.
Fubini made important contributions in analysis, particularly differential equations, functional analysis, and complex analysis. To students of mathematics, he is best known for Fubini's theorem, which gives conditions under which a double integral and the corresponding iterated single integrals are the same. Fubini's theorem is important in probability, with numerous applications to expected value.
