The experiment is to randomly permute \(n\) balls, numbered 1 to \(n\). A match occurs whenever the ball number and the position number agree. The matches are shown in red. Random variable \(N\) gives the number of matches and is recorded in the data table. The distribution of \(N\) is described in the distribution graph and table. The parameter \(n\) can be varied with the input control. The distribution of \(N\) converges to the Poisson distribution with parameter 1 as \(n \to \infty\).
