The Sample Mean Experiment

Description

The experiment consists of selecting a random sample of size \(n\) from a specified distribution. The sample mean, standard deviation, and sample values are recorded in the record table on each run. The sample size \(n\) can be varied with an input control. The sampling distribution can be selected from the list box; the options are

For each distribution, the appropriate parameters can be varied with input controls. The distribution probability density function and moments are shown in blue in the distribution graph for \(X\). The probability density function and moments of the sample mean \(M\) are shown in blue in the distribution graph for \(M\) and are recorded in distribution table for \(M\). On each update, the empirical density function and moments are shown in red in the distribution graph for \(M\) and are recorded in the distribution table for \(M\).
